Beware of Cosmetic Use During Pregnancy

There are several cosmetic ingredients are suspected to interfere with fetal development.

Despite being pregnant, would she still want to look beautiful and attractive. However, not many know if the material or equipment being used can harm the baby. Our bodies do a good job to protect the fetus by filtering bacteria and germs through the placenta but there are ingredients in some products that can fit into the developing fetus.

Now is the time to make some changes on skin care and cosmetic options. Though still a bit of research on this, but there are some materials that are commonly found in skin care products and cosmetics that allegedly could interfere with fetal development.

Substances to be avoided during pregnancy:

- Salicylic acid (BHA or beta hydroxy acid)
This material can be found in products used to treat acne, and prevent antiaging. Therefore, complications in pregnancy appear in women who take aspirin, salicylic acid and therefore is part of the aspirin family then this should be avoided.

- Retinol A
This material is a form of vitamin A which is used to treat acne and is used to exfoliate dead skin. High doses of vitamin A has been shown to interfere with infant development.

- Parabens
This is a very common preservative used in many skin care products. Clinical studies began to suggest a link this material with adverse effects on the reproductive system of male infants.

- Phathalates
Get listed as DBP (dibutyl phathalate) in products such as nail polish. More frequent in most products will not be listed in the. Phathalates can be found in skin care products with "fragrance" listed on the label. It can be found in a number of skin care or cosmetic products including nail polish, deodorant, hair spray or perfume.

In the book "Not Just a Pretty Face - The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry", by Shanna Swan, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester showed "significant relationship" to the presence of higher amount phathalates the pregnant woman's body and changes in genitals baby boy.

Although studies are necessary to memeperkuatnya, but why take the risk when there are effective products that are available do not contain phathalates. Avoid products with "fragrance" on labels and find one of phathalate.

- Cream Hair removers
There is a possibility of the chemicals in this product can be absorbed into the skin should be avoided during pregnancy. In addition, many brands list "fragrance" that may contain phathalates. It's safer to avoid its use.

- Essential Oils
There is no certainty whether the essential oils included in the list of ingredients should be avoided during pregnancy. The reason is, there are some essential oils are very useful for skin care during pregnancy. Be sure to check the skin care products while pregnant.

Benzoyl peroxide-
Benzoyl peroxide is found in many products used to treat acne have a category C which means that:

If studies in animals have shown adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

- Accutane
This is an oral treatment for acne should not be used at all during pregnancy. Because the fetus at risk of serious birth defects and possible loss of the fetus.

-Hydrocortisone
This topical cream used to treat acne is believed to lead to risk of birth defects and fetal toxicity.

- Lipstick
Campaign for Safe Cosmetics said that "pregnant women and young children are particularly vulnerable to exposure because it easily crosses the placenta and may enter the fetal brain in a place that interferes with fetal development."

Choose a lipstick of which are made from natural ingredients that will make you look beautiful and feel safe.

- 1.4 Dioksana
This is not the ingredients listed on any skin care product because it is an ingredient of other petroleum-based synthetics. It has been found to cause cancer and little is known whether it is a bad effect on the developing fetus.

This material is present in many types of cleaning products ie hair products and moisturizers. Unfortunately, it has also been found in natural or organic products.

Find companies and products you can trust. Using products that have been certified third parties such as certified organic or certified BDIH to make sure you use the most secure.
